“Never stop learning.” That is the motto Ronald Moore, MS, BSN, RN, CARN, has lived by throughout his 15-year career at St. Charles Hospital. Currently a performance improvement nurse, he did his very first clinical rotation at the Port Jefferson hospital while still a nursing student.
Immediately recognizing an organizational culture that he wanted to be part of, as soon as the semester ended, he joined St. Charles as a nursing assistant. “I will always look back on that time with gratitude for affording me such a wonderful foundation to build upon,” said Ronald.
While obtaining his associate’s degree, he worked as a registered nurse on the night shift at the inpatient chemical dependency unit. “I was fortunate enough to be mentored by a diverse staff of nurses that had a passion for the field,” remembered Ronald. “I learned so much from every one of them.” After obtaining his associate’s degree, Ronald went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Certified Addictions Registered Nurse credentials. “I am very proud of this specialty certification and maintain it to this day,” remarked Ronald.
His educational pursuit has continued, and he eventually earned a master’s degree and is working toward a PhD in nursing with the encouragement of the hospital’s nursing leadership, who have always appreciated his contributions to the strong nursing team at St. Charles. Today, he enjoys his current role as a performance improvement nurse, which has afforded him further opportunity to learn and grow.
“I have an immense amount of gratitude for all of the wonderful growth and learning opportunities, as well as the many mentors I’ve had along the way throughout my career. Each and every step along the way has helped shape me into the nurse leader that I am today, and I am proud to be part of the culture that is found here at St. Charles Hospital.”
