Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® has once again been ranked among the top hospitals in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings. The hospital is nationally ranked in eight adult medical specialties:

St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® is the only hospital on Long Island to be nationally ranked for Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery 19 times by U.S. News. It was named the 17th best hospital in the nation and fourth best in New York State and the New York Metropolitan Area for the specialty for 2026-27. The Roslyn-based hospital also tied as the fifth best hospital overall in New York State and sixth best in the Metro Area.

In addition to the U.S. News rankings, St. Francis is one of the region’s most awarded hospitals for quality and safety by The Leapfrog Group and CMS.
Other Catholic Health hospitals that received High Performing ratings for common adult procedures and conditions include:
- Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip earned High-Performance ratings for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Heart Bypass Surgery and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.
- St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown earned High-Performance ratings for Heart Failure, Kidney Failure, Pneumonia and Stroke.
- The former St. Charles Hospital, now a campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital in Port Jefferson, earned a High-Performance rating for Hip Replacement.
- St. Charles was also ranked seventh in New York State and ninth in the Metro Area for Rehabilitation.
- Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre earned a High-Performance rating for Heart Failure.
The annual Best Hospitals report from U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,400 medical centers nationwide in 14 specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. The methodologies are based largely on objective measures such as patient survival, volume and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
