Catholic Health has named Joseph Manopella, MBA, as the new president of St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, effective July 1, 2025. In this expanded leadership role, Manopella will oversee all operations at St. Joseph Hospital, with a focus on driving strategic growth, enhancing quality and patient experience, and advancing workforce development and employee engagement. He will continue to serve concurrently as president of Catholic Health’s Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, a position he has held since 2022. The executive leadership team at Mercy Hospital remains steadfast in their commitment to their current roles, maintaining a strategic focus on organizational growth and the continued delivery of exceptional care to the community.

With 30 years of experience in health care leadership, Manopella is a seasoned executive recognized for his strategic acumen, operational excellence, and commitment to enhancing patient care. At St. Joseph, he will focus on implementing strategies for growth, improving quality and patient experience, and advancing workforce development and employee engagement.

“Joining the team at St. Joseph seemed like a natural fit for Joe,” said Gary Havican, executive vice president & chief operating officer at Catholic Health. “He knows what it takes to deliver the highest level of care to Long Islanders, especially in Nassau County, and has already demonstrated strong leadership at Mercy Hospital. I’m confident Joe will bring that same expertise and passion to St. Joseph, as both hospitals continue to evolve and grow.”

Before joining Catholic Health three years ago, Manopella held several leadership positions at Northwell Health, including serving as executive director of LIJ Valley Stream as well as Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. In both roles, he was instrumental in driving programmatic growth, expansion, managing large-scale capital projects, and enhancing the quality and patient experience.

“I’m excited to join St. Joseph Hospital at a time when Catholic Health is undergoing transformative growth,” said Manopella. “I look forward to collaborating with leadership and staff to build on the innovative work already underway and continue providing exceptional care to the community.”

Manopella holds a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science from Stony Brook University. He resides in Williston Park, NY, with his wife and three children.
