Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center, St. Charles Hospital and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital each earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that sets standards for excellence in patient care, in its Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Survey. This national distinction recognizes each hospital’s strong performance in patient safety and harm prevention.

This latest rating marks St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center’s16th consecutive and 26th overall “A” grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group. The Roslyn hospital has received more “A” grades than any hospital in New York State since the safety scores launched in 2012. Its innovative, nationally ranked cardiovascular services are available across the Catholic Health system. All Catholic Health cardiologists are part of St. Francis Heart Center. St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center has Joint Commission specialty certification for Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Ventricular Assist Device and Stroke Care. The hospital has earned Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation, Chest Pain Center Accreditation, TAVR Certification and three consecutive HeartCARE Center™ designations from the American College of Cardiology. St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center holds Magnet with Distinction® status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the highest national recognition for excellence in professional nursing practice.
St. Charles Hospital has received 11 “A” grades from The Leapfrog Group. The Port Jefferson hospital features five Centers of Excellence—Orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Bariatrics, Robotic Surgery and Hernia Surgery—with specialty Joint Commission certifications for Total Hip and Knee Replacement, Stroke and Palliative Care, and American College of Emergency Physicians recognition as a Geriatric Accredited Emergency Department. St. Charles Hospital is the region’s most comprehensive rehabilitation provider and is the only hospital on Long Island with CARF accreditation for its inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation program for children and adults.
This is St. Catherine of Siena Hospital’s sixth “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group. The Smithtown hospital has three Joint Commission specialty certifications for Sepsis, Stroke and Palliative Care. St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians as a Geriatric Accredited Emergency Department, and its breast health program is recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
