Message from the President

As part of Catholic Health’s continued growth, effective July 1, 2026, St. Charles Hospital will be operated as a campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital.

For St. Charles Hospital patients, there will be no significant changes to care delivery. This transition is primarily administrative: future patient communications will be issued under the new name, Good Samaritan University Hospital, St. Charles Campus.

This integration presents an opportunity to further strengthen Catholic Health’s programs and regional hospital network including:
• Expanded opportunities for medical education and training under Good Samaritan’s sponsorship.
• Closer coordination and access to a broader array of clinical services.
• Continued reinvestment in Catholic Health’s mission to serve our communities.

Patients will continue to receive high-quality care, with access to a broader network of physicians and services.

FAQs for the Community

Will the community see any changes in health care delivery?
Patients and families should not expect to see changes in the continuity of care they receive. Our primary goal is to enhance how care is delivered, making it easier for patients to schedule appointments, find doctors and access the high-quality services we provide. This integration builds on our commitment to accessible, coordinated care for the communities we serve.

Will community doctors and non-Catholic Health entities still have access to St. Charles Hospital?
Yes. Both Good Samaritan University Hospital and St. Charles Hospital will continue to partner with community physicians and non-Catholic Health entities. These partnerships are important to patient care and will remain in place.

Will my health insurance work the same?
We do not anticipate any changes in health insurance coverage due to this transition.
