A message from
James O’Connor, President, Good Samaritan University Hospital St. Charles Campus
Health care consumers in and around the Three Village area have been turning to St. Charles for well over one hundred years. Founded by the Daughters of Wisdom back in 1907, what is now Good Samaritan University Hospital St. Charles Campus provides exceptional care, with particular expertise in Maternal/Child services, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Indeed, St. Charles is recognized as the region’s most comprehensive rehabilitation provider and is the only hospital campus on Long Island with CARF accreditation for its inpatient and outpatient rehab programs for children and adults.
As part of Catholic Health, the physicians and nurses at St. Charles work closely with their colleagues at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip to ensure the highest quality care for our North Shore patients.
We offer comprehensive general surgery, along with surgical subspecialties including colorectal surgery, urology, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, gynecologic oncology, female pelvic floor disorders and ear, nose and throat (ENT) care. Our surgeons are highly skilled in advanced robotic-assisted surgery, which offers patients smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain and faster recoveries. St. Charles is also recognized as a Center of Excellence in both hernia surgery and colorectal surgery.
In addition, St. Charles recently enhanced and expanded its emergency medicine suite, including stroke care capabilities, and provides acute inpatient medical care for both adults and children.
Additional specialty services include the cardiovascular expertise of St. Francis Heart Center, as well as pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, epilepsy care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and our nationally accredited Sleep Disorders Center.
Additionally, St. Charles’ Chemical Dependency Rehabilitation Program—for adults 18 and over—is carefully designed to promote recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol using advanced approaches such as cognitive restructuring, relapse prevention training, effect regulation, wellness strategies and 12-step principles.
St. Charles has received prestigious recognition from Healthgrades and earned Joint Commission Advanced Certification for stroke, palliative care and total hip/knee replacement. Other achievements include IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence designation and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award” for outstanding stroke care and its “Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.” St. Charles has also received accreditations from the American College of Radiology, the American Diabetes Association, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Commission on Cancer.
The expert staff of St. Charles regularly offer free educational health programs and screenings at neighborhood churches, libraries, town fairs and social centers.
A vital part of Catholic Health, Good Samaritan University Hospital St. Charles Campus treats every patient who enters our doors with respect, compassion and dignity.
Should you or your loved ones ever need our wide array of health care services, we are committed to providing the highest level of care.
Wishing you good health.
