Good Samaritan University Hospital (West Islip, NY) offers childbirth programs for Long Island mothers and supporting family members. Perinatal education offers a unique opportunity for the entire family to become involved in the parent-child bonding process. Knowledge of what is expected to happen is one of the keys to having a positive childbirth experience. All programs are free of charge.

Classes We Offer
New Mothers’ Gathering Place
Weekly, 1-1/2 hour classes; free of charge.
New mothers and their babies meet to socialize and discuss important topics of mutual interest such as adjusting to parenthood, infant growth and development, feeding and nutrition, sleep patterns and infant health and safety.
Mother's Circle of Hope Support Group
A free, 8-week support group meets once a week for women experiencing depression or anxiety related to pregnancy and/or childbirth.
NICU Support Group
By connections with one another, we can ensure that no family goes through the NICU journey alone.
Breastfeeding Café
Bring your baby to this free weekly support group led by our Certified Lactation Consultant. In an informal, off-site location, participants receive information and support to help ensure breastfeeding success. Topics will vary based on group members’ interests. Hands-on assistance is offered if needed.

Good Samaritan University Hospital offers free–anytime, anywhere–online parent education designed to give convenient access to valuable information from the comfort of home. This educational program includes the tools and support needed at every stage during pregnancy. It is available in 13 languages.

- Information on prenatal care, labor and birth, adjusting to parenthood, breastfeeding, and newborn care with videos and interactive tools
