Good Samaritan University Hospital celebrated the extraordinary legacy of Terese Weber, a founding member of the Guilds of Good Samaritan—a collection of volunteer organizations that support and raise money for the hospital—during a special recognition event honoring her decades of dedication, volunteerism and leadership in service of the hospital and surrounding community.

Hosted by hospital leadership, Guild members, community supporters and members of the Weber family, the event paid tribute to Weber’s lasting contributions to the institution since its inception.

While welcoming attendees, Good Samaritan University Hospital President Dr. Justin Lundbye reflected on Weber’s pivotal role in helping establish the hospital before its official opening in 1959.

“Today, we gather not simply to recognize an individual, but to celebrate a legacy—one built on compassion, commitment and an unwavering belief in the power of community,” said Dr. Lundbye. “Terese Weber’s name is woven into the very fabric of this institution. Her dedication, leadership and generosity helped transform the vision of Good Samaritan into the trusted hospital it is today.”

As a founding member of the Guilds of Good Samaritan, Weber helped spearhead early fundraising and community support efforts for the hospital. Over the years, she continued to serve the organization with distinction through volunteer leadership roles, including President of the Guilds and later Director.

Lundbye noted Weber’s influence extends far beyond fundraising efforts.

“Through her volunteerism, leadership and unwavering commitment, Terese has exemplified what it means to give not just time, but heart and purpose,” he said. “Her legacy is lived every day within these walls through the compassionate care provided to our patients and community.”

The event also recognized the enduring impact of the Guilds of Good Samaritan and the generations of volunteers who continue the mission established by Weber and the original Guild members.

“To the Weber family, thank you for sharing Terese with us and supporting her countless hours of service,” Dr. Lundbye added. “And to our Guild members, past and present, you carry forward a tradition of generosity, compassion and meaningful impact that Terese helped build.”

The recognition ceremony served as a celebration of Weber’s lifetime of service and the profound role community partnership continues to play in advancing health care on Long Island.
