Good Samaritan University Hospital Appoints Vice President of Financial Operations

Catholic Health’s Good Samaritan University Hospital has appointed Brian DeFeo its new Vice President of Financial Operations. In this role, Mr. DeFeo will spearhead initiatives to improve financial performance, optimize operations and support mission-driven growth at the West Islip hospital.

Mr. DeFeo brings more than twenty years of experience managing large, diverse teams across financial operations. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Mather Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital with a $500 million operating budget. In this role, he oversaw all financial operations, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, accounting systems and financial reporting. He also oversaw finances for a 14-site medical group covering primary care, cardiology, vascular, rheumatology, pulmonary and sleep medicine and general surgery.

Prior to this, Mr. DeFeo held several senior leadership roles within Northwell Health STARS Rehabilitation, where he oversaw the financial and operational performance of a 23-site rehabilitation network and collaborated closely with clinical, operational and corporate leadership to boost productivity, streamline revenue cycle processes, develop strategic plans and support system-wide growth initiatives.

Mr. DeFeo received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Adelphi University and a Master of Health Administration from Hofstra University.
