Catholic Health’s Good Samaritan University Hospital has again achieved accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology. The accreditation recognizes the West Islip hospital for meeting and exceeding internationally recognized SRC standards in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
“This Center of Excellence recognition is an outstanding reflection of Good Samaritan’s expertise in minimally invasive surgery and our steadfast commitment to patient care, quality and women’s health services,” said Justin Lundbye, MD, MBA, FACHE, president of Good Samaritan University Hospital. “Our patients are our top priority, and providing them with the highest level of care at every encounter is always our paramount goal.”
Health care facilities and surgeons seeking SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure applicants meet SRC’s 10 Center of Excellence program requirements: Institutional Commitment to Excellence; Surgical Experience; Physician Program Director; Consultative Services; Equipment and Instruments; Surgeon Dedication and Qualified Call Coverage; Clinical Pathways and Standardized Operating Procedures; Surgical Team and Support Staff; Patient Education; and Continuous Quality Assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help organizations improve services.
“We’re proud to recognize Good Samaritan University Hospital for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, chief executive officer of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
In addition to Good Samaritan University Hospital, Mark Pillitteri, DO, Keith Downing, MD, and Jennifer McEachron, DO, of Catholic Health Physician Partners were all recognized as Surgeons of Excellence.
