Catholic Health received silver recognition from the American Medical Association (AMA) Joy in Medicine® Health System Recognition Program for 2026 in honor of the system’s commitment to fostering well-being and reducing burnout among its physicians.

To earn AMA Joy in Medicine® recognition, health systems must meet rigorous criteria and utilize proven methods to combat burnout and enhance professional fulfillment of physicians. As a Joy in Medicine®-recognized organization, Catholic Health is a national leader in the movement to address the root causes of clinician burnout.

“At Catholic Health, we understand that physician well-being is key to providing the highest level of care to our patients,” said Jason Golbin, DO, MBA, executive vice president and chief medical officer at Catholic Health. “Our physicians are the backbone of everything we do, and we take great care to ensure they feel supported at every level. We’re proud to once again be recognized by the American Medical Association in these efforts.”

The Catholic Health Clinician Resilience and Well-Being Committee offers numerous programs and projects to help promote physician satisfaction across the system, including peer support groups, burnout assessments and the Fellows of Wellness Program, a one-year educational engagement that trains participants to become on-site ambassadors for clinician well-being and experience across Catholic Health.

“We’re honored to be recognized as one of the top health systems in the country for our dedication to our physicians,” said Michael Moskowitz, DO, MBA, vice president of clinician resilience and well-being at Catholic Health. “Simply saying we care about our doctors isn’t enough. We’re committed to fostering a culture of support, well-being and fulfilment across our system, and Joy in Medicine silver is a reflection of our continued progress in that never-ending mission.”

Since its inception in 2019, the AMA Joy in Medicine® Health System Recognition Program has recognized more than 250 organizations across the country. Recognition levels are valid for two years. This year, a total of 92 health organizations nationwide earned recognition with documented efforts to reduce system-level drivers of work-related burnout and demonstrated competencies in commitment, assessment, leadership, efficiency of practice environment, teamwork and support.
