When Minutes Count

Catholic Health chest pain centers provide prompt, highly skilled assessments and treatment of acute chest pain in a matter of minutes.

H.E.A.R.T.

Minutes count when a heart attack occurs. Patients presenting with chest pain will be quickly seen by a physician and receive an electrocardiogram (EKG). Our expert cardiac team will evaluate a patient's condition using the H.E.A.R.T. scoring method:

  • History
  • ECG
  • Age
  • Risk factors
  • Troponin levels in blood—released when heart muscles become damaged

Based on the score, St. Francis Heart Center physicians will determine the level of criticality and next steps. Cardiac images will be read by a dedicated cardiac imaging team. For patients who require a catheterization, our board-certified cardiac surgeons perform precision angioplasty with the same level of excellence offered at the nationally-renowned St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center®.

Our team will schedule follow-up appointments after hospital discharge. We stay in touch with each patient’s primary care physician or related specialist to keep them informed about next steps to continue a path toward recovery and wellness.

Call 9-1-1 if this is a medical emergency.
