Good Samaritan University Hospital, Magnet® Recognition Distinction

The Magnet® Recognition Program was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This program recognition elevates patient care by ensuring that nurses and their interprofessional colleagues care for patients using the most up-to-date, evidence-based, best practices. Magnet® recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing practices and meet or exceed national standards for improving patient care.

ANCC’s Magnet® Recognition Program is the highest and most prestigious recognition a hospital can earn for nursing excellence. The ANCC reviews all of the services of a health care facility and analyzes how they support nursing initiatives to provide the best care for patients. Less than 10% of hospitals nationwide have earned this recognition. Good Samaritan University Hospital proudly earned this recognition in August 2021.

Our professional registered nurses utilize a theoretical framework based on nursing, scientific research, and technological knowledge to provide the highest level of care for patients. As members of Good Samaritan University Hospital’s health care team, they unify and coordinate interdepartmental patient services and function as role models to their colleagues for patient diagnosis, intervention, and compassionate care.

All of our nurses implement the I-CARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence into all of their practices to achieve optimal health outcomes for all patients and their families.

Professional Development

“Magnet® hospitals impact patient outcomes by investing in the ongoing nursing education and career development that is necessary to provide safe, high quality patient care.” – ANCC

Through continuing education, the nurses of Good Samaritan Hospital stay up-to-date on new research, trends, and concepts within the nursing and medical profession. They are expected to innovate, initiate and advocate change.

All nurses are encouraged to participate in the Professional Development Ladder Program which rewards and recognizes their commitment to their professional growth and development. Nurses can choose options that align with their intended career path, including earning an advanced degree, precepting or mentoring new nurses, and participating in shared governance councils.
