Dear Neighbor,

Keeping Long Islanders healthy has been our foundational mission since we welcomed our first patients more than a century ago. It is our great honor to serve you with state-of-the-art health care. U.S. News & World Report has ranked St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center as one of the best hospitals in the nation in eight adult specialties—Heart & Vascular, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Urology, Pulmonary & Lung Surgery, and Orthopedics. We are also a certified center of excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Stroke Care and Cancer Care.

Committed to upholding our long and rich history in our community, we remain focused on providing you with the best of care, driven to lead in health care technology and innovation.  As such, I wanted to reach out with a personal note to share with you that we are in the initial stages of a needs assessment and modernization strategy. Our priorities with this assessment include increasing the compliment of private patient rooms to enhance the patient experience. Additionally, we are evaluating modernizing our operating rooms and procedural areas, equipping them with the most advanced technology to provide you with the highest quality of care you can receive on Long Island.

As we evaluate our needs and explore modernization options for the first time in 20 years, I want you to know that we are committed to being a good neighbor and a steward of our community. We will also be transparent with you throughout our discovery and planning activities.

We are at the very beginning of our journey and are in the process of retaining consultants to assist with our evaluation and planning.

We look forward to communicating further as our assessment of our modernization project evolves.

Sincerely,

Charles L Lucore MD, MBA
