Visitor Policy
For patients
- Limited to two visitors at the bedside between 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.
- A doula may accompany a maternal patient in the emergency department except during emergency treatment or procedures or when the presence of a doula could compromise the safety of the patient or health care team as determined by any member of the health care team.
For visitors
- 12–17 years old must be accompanied by an adult to be permitted to visit.

Children under 12 are not permitted, with the exception of maternity.
- Must supply contact information.
- Will receive a pass (sticker) that must remain visible during visit.
- Will be advised to perform meticulous hand hygiene.
- Must remain in the patient’s room throughout the visit unless otherwise instructed by staff.
- Upon exiting the building, must return visitor pass to the Security Officer.
Maternity Unit
- Visiting hours: 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
- For maternity visitors, children under the age of 18 are not permitted, unless a sibling of a newborn.
- Two (2) healthy persons, one of which may be a doula, are permitted on the Labor and Delivery Unit to provide support and additional comfort to the maternal patient. The role of a doula is valued and access is always permitted except during emergencies or when such access could compromise the safety of the patient or health care team.
